Good food, great company, and a taste of life at Jane College.
Jane College isn’t just somewhere to live while you study, it’s a vibrant, inclusive community where you’ll be known by name, supported in every aspect of your life, and encouraged to be wholly yourself.
Open Day is your chance to step inside our beautiful college, meet our friendly students and staff, and experience what life at Jane is really like.
On the day, you can:
- Explore our newly refreshed spaces - cosy corners, warm lighting, and inviting common areas designed for connection.
- Chat with current students about life at Jane.
- Find out how we support you - in your studies, wellbeing, and social life.
- Enjoy a free lunch (and coffee, of course!).
- Get tips on applying and learn about our scholarships.

Note: Registering in advance is optional, but does help us plan for your visit. If you don’t formally register you are still very welcome to drop in and meet us for a tour on the day.

Jane Open Day FAQs
Jane will be open from 10am – 3pm for Open Day on Sunday 9 August. Lunch is on us and served from 12 -2 pm.
Our wonderful students will be running tours all day. There are no set times. When you arrive you will be welcomed and paired with a tour guide.
We are located at 6 Elboden Street in South Hobart. There will be a free shuttle bus running between Jane and the other University accommodation on Open Day. If you have a car there is free parking on site at Jane.
Yes. We have free parking on campus. There will be spots reserved for visitors. Just drive up through the main gates on Elboden Street.
We do encourage you to register to help with our planning, but it is not a requirement and everyone is welcome.
- Start the day with a free coffee from the Coffee van.
- A warm welcome and collect a bag of Jane goodies.
- Meet some of our students who'll take you on a tour of the College, individualised for family groups or small groups tours
- Free lunch between 12 and 2.00pm - hot lunch, sandwiches, salads, fruit, cakes. Sit with students in our dining hall or out on the lawn. Families most welcome.
- Check out Jane - see some of our rooms, meet our Dean of Students and Dean of Academic Studies and meet our students.
You need to visit Jane to know that Jane is so much more than a residential college. It is a community, it is fun, adventure, support, laughs, sport, music, studying, partying and a true University experience.
You are very welcome to stay for as long as you like, enjoy the free coffee, lunch explore our campus and chat with our staff and students. Typically, a tour takes 15-20 minutes, but we know that Open Day is busy and there is a lot to see, so if you have limited time, just let your tour guide know and they will tailor the tour to suit.
Of course! Everyone is welcome at Jane.
We are opening our doors from 10 am – 3pm for Open Day. If you cannot make it during those hours, please reach out and we will happily organise a private tour at a time that suits you.
