Your room at Jane

Your room is your own private space within the Jane community. It is where you can sleep, study, recharge and make yourself at home while living close to university life in Hobart.

Each room includes the essentials for everyday student living, with furniture, storage and study space provided.

Room options

Jane offers a range of student accommodation options in Hobart, including single, double and ensuite rooms. 

For postgraduate residents, private self-contained apartments may also be available, along with shared accommodation in the lodge.

Room styles vary across Jane, with a mix of recently updated rooms and rooms with a more traditional college feel. While your room may look different from the examples shown, all rooms include the essential furniture, storage and study space you need to settle in comfortably.

What’s included in your room

Every room at Jane is designed to be practical, comfortable and easy to live in. Your room includes:

• A key-locked door, accessible only by you and authorised staff in emergencies
• A long single bed with mattress and mattress protector
• A desk and chair for study
• A heater
• A bookcase
• A cupboard and drawers
• Curtains or blinds

Make the space your own

We want your room to feel like more than student accommodation. Bring the things that help you feel settled, comfortable and ready for university life.

Residents are welcome to personalise their space with items such as rugs, lamps, artwork, photos and shelves. You can also bring a bar fridge, so snacks and study fuel are close by when you need them.

Whether you keep things simple or add your own style, your room is your space.

More than just a room

Living at Jane means you have your own private room, plus access to shared spaces that support study, friendship and everyday life.

We have several recreational areas where you can watch TV, play pool and table tennis, or use the turfed sporting area to play basketball, netball, badminton and a range of other sports and activities. For those studying music or who like playing a musical instrument, there are several music practice rooms.

There are a number of quiet study spaces available for individual or group use with a whiteboard and large tables.

We also have beautiful gardens and are only a short stroll from the South Hobart shopping strip with local grocer and coffee shops.
