There was a kind of magic in the air at Jane’s 75th birthday - the unmistakable excitement of people coming home.
More than 100 alumni returned in early December, spanning generations, with the earliest being Doris Banks OAM, the second student ever to enrol at Jane.
The atmosphere felt almost like Christmas Eve: that bubbling anticipation as familiar faces appeared, followed by hugs, squeals of delight, a few tears, and endless “Do you remember when…?” Stories flowed as easily as the laughter: proposals made at Jane, wedding receptions held in the dining hall, a mischievous Jane song from the 1950s, firecrackers across the dining hall lawn, and countless tales of youthful mayhem.
For a moment, time folded in on itself, and the decades in between simply vanished. What remained was a profound sense of love, connection, and belonging. The enduring spirit of Jane, alive and strong.
